About me…
I have always loved horses and am fortunate enough to have been around these beautiful souls from a very early age. This lifelong passion along with my inquisitive nature (also known as my ‘why though?’ attitude) and my greatest teacher, the one that changed my life, my wonderful horse, Zeus, inspired me to pursue a career in Equine Massage. I very happily qualified as a Practitioner in Equine Integrative Support Therapies with Equine Massage Academy Ltd and UK Rural Skills, in 2023.
I chose the course with EMA as I wanted to ensure I was able to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the subjects that underpin manual therapy work as well as learning the practical techniques. My training required attendance at both practical and theory based teaching, the completion of assignments, examinations and case studies over a two year period, giving me the opportunity to develop a thorough knowledge of Equine Anatomy and Physiology, Equine Science, Equine Rehabilitation Strategies and Manual Therapy Techniques (including sport massage, maintenance massage, myofascial release, accupressure and stretching).
During my training and since qualifying I have been able to provide hundreds of hours of practical hands on massage for a huge range of horses, from happy hackers, youngsters, retirees, competition horses and those rehabbing from a variety of illnesses, injuries and surgeries. This along with many years working at riding schools, livery and competition yards, as well as owning my own horses has allowed me the privilege to gain extensive experience.
Since qualifying I have become a member of the following professional bodies:
Equine Massage Academy Association (EMAA)
International Association of Animal Therapists (IAAT)
I keep up to date with scientific research papers, attend and participate in regular CPD training sessions. I am also working towards a Master Therapist, Level 6 qualification, with EMA.
